The News Broadcasting and Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA) has censured TV channels Aaj Tak and India Today, along with anchor Sudhir Chaudhary, for airing content that demeaned the LGBTQIA+ community.
The programs violated dignity and fairness standards, lacking neutral representation.
NBDSA criticized the anchor's remarks, emphasizing that even courts recognize LGBTQIA+ rights.
It directed the broadcasters to remove offensive content within seven days.
Additionally, the body condemned the anchor’s misleading statements about the Supreme Court and issued an advisory urging maturity in future discussions.
The complaint concerned three programs aired in April 2023 discussing same-sex marriage.
