NBDSA Orders 5 Channels To Remove ‘Love Jihad’ Broadcasts Based On Fictional NCERT Letter

The NBDSA has directed India TV, News18 MP/CG, Zee MP/CG, Zee News, and ABP News to remove eight broadcasts that wrongly portrayed a Class 3 NCERT lesson as evidence of “love jihad.”

The authority held that the channels created a communal narrative around a fictional letter between two characters, violating standards of objective reporting. NBDSA found the coverage sensational, biased, and unsupported by facts, noting that the broadcasts amplified a fictional classroom exercise into a “love jihad” conspiracy without verification.

The channels have been ordered to take down the videos within seven days, with the NBDSA stressing the need for neutrality in reporting sensitive issues.
