NCERT Book Row: Blacklisted Academics Seek Hearing, Say Decision Was Collective

In the ongoing NCERT textbook controversy, three academics barred by the Supreme Court from participating in publicly funded academic work have approached the Court seeking a hearing.

They filed affidavits explaining their role in drafting the controversial Class 8 chapter on “corruption in the judiciary.” Arguing that the decision-making process was collective, they denied individual responsibility for the content.

The Court had earlier passed adverse remarks and imposed restrictions without hearing them.

The bench has now agreed to list their applications for consideration after procedural compliance, while the broader suo motu case on the textbook and its revision continues.
