NCLAT Allows Google to Remove Confidential Data from Play Store Judgment
Case Name: Alphabet Inc. & Ors. v. Competition Commission of India & Anr.
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has allowed Google’s request to redact certain confidential sections from its March 28 judgment in the Google Play Store billing case.
Google argued that a certain paragraph contained sensitive revenue data from a confidential letter dated October 6, 2022. The Tribunal accepted the request and directed the removal of paragraphs 97 to 100 from public and certified copies of the judgment
Earlier, NCLAT had upheld the CCI’s findings on Google’s abuse of dominance but reduced the penalty from ₹936.44 crore to ₹216 crore.
