A special CBI court in Mumbai granted bail to Charan Pratap Singh, Deputy Registrar of NCLT Mumbai, in a bribery case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Singh was arrested for allegedly demanding ₹3.5 lakh (later settled at ₹3 lakh) from a hotel owner to influence a title dispute case.
The CBI set a trap and caught an associate red-handed on May 29 with ₹1 lakh real cash and ₹2 lakh dummy notes. Singh initially fled but was later arrested.
Bail was granted on furnishing a ₹1 lakh personal bond, and the court considered keeping him in custody unnecessary.
