India Notified Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025

The Government of India enacted the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, to establish a comprehensive legislative framework governing immigration and foreigner-related matters.

The newly enacted legislation expressly repeals the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920; the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939; the Foreigners Act, 1946; and the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act, 2000.

The Act aims to streamline and regulate immigration control, the registration of foreigners, visa administration, and enforcement mechanisms within a unified and codified legal framework.
