Government Enforces Online Gaming Act, 2025; All Money-Based Games Banned from Oct 1, 2025

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, is now in force from October 1, 2025, officially prohibiting money-based online games across India.

The law seeks to curb gambling-related harm by banning unregulated cash gaming. Major platforms like Dream11, MPL, and Games24x7 have suspended their money gaming services in compliance.

Authorities say the move will encourage responsible gaming and steer India toward a regulated, skill-based gaming industry.
