NGT notices UP authorities over new constructions between Taj Mahal and Agra Fort

The National Green Tribunal held that authorities must file replies to allegations raised in the Agra ecological zone matter.

The case concerns claims that the Agra Development Authority (ADA) constructed kiosks, paved paths and brick-cement structures inside the 100–200-year-old Shahjahan Park located between the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.

The plea also alleged that the Agra Municipal Corporation raised a concrete selfie point on the Agra–Gwalior Highway green belt, and that private individuals cut trees and built structures on mandatory green belts, while L&T cut down trees during metro work without permissions.

The NGT issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government, ADA and others, directing responses within four weeks.
