NHRC Holds Two-Day Open Hearing in Hyderabad to Address Human Rights Violations in Telangana

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held a two-day open hearing and camp on July 28–29 at MCRHRDI, Hyderabad, to address serious grievances and ensure government accountability.

Division benches led by Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian, with Justices Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Vijaya Bharathi Sayani, reviewed 109 cases, including caste discrimination, custodial deaths, police excesses, rights of students, denial of welfare benefits, and abuses against marginalised groups.

Senior state officials attended to support prompt action. NHRC issued directions, ordered compliance reports, and granted compensation where violations were found. The Commission will also engage NGOs and civil society to promote longer-term accountability.
