The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) told the Karnataka High Court that granting 0.5% reservation with a fee waiver, for transgender persons disrupts the admission process.
It argued that the directive also interferes with the university's autonomy.
NLSIU argued that reservations can only be formulated by the executive committee as per the Supreme Court's NALSA judgment.
The petitioner contended that transgender rights stem from the 2014 NALSA verdict and accused NLSIU of denying admission arbitrarily.
The court listed the matter for hearing on March 28.
