Student representatives from NLUs across India raised concerns that the Consortium of NLUs has ignored multiple requests to reduce CLAT application and counselling fees.
They submitted three representations: first in November 2024, highlighting financial and procedural hurdles; second in July 2025 to the Consortium, UGC, BCI, and Ministry of Law, recommending need-based waivers; and third in September 2025, requesting a virtual meeting with the Consortium’s Executive Body.
The students noted the Consortium had not responded and urged action. Earlier this month, the Consortium invited public suggestions for CLAT 2027 reforms.
