A group of young lawyers practising before the Andhra Pradesh High Court has strongly opposed the High Court Advocates’ Association’s resolution treating a viral courtroom incident involving a junior advocate and Justice Tarlada Rajasekhar Rao as “amicably settled.”
The controversy arose after a video showed the visibly distressed lawyer repeatedly apologising while facing a threat of 24-hour judicial custody for allegedly placing a file loudly during proceedings.
In a strongly worded letter, over 200 young lawyers argued that no advocate deserves such treatment and raised concerns about humiliation and disproportionate judicial reactions toward junior counsels.
They sought withdrawal of the resolution, an inquiry, and broader discussions on Bar-Bench relations.
