The Supreme Court in the recent hearings on West Bengal SIR Case held that election results cannot be challenged merely because some voters were excluded.
The Court clarified that it will interfere only if the number of excluded voters is large enough to impact the result, meaning it is close to or exceeds the winning margin.
Recognising that large electoral processes may involve some errors, the Court refused to set aside the results in this case.
It also stated that such grievances should be addressed through proper legal remedies under election law, rather than direct intervention by the Court.
