The government, represented by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, has confirmed that there is no proposal to increase the salary, allowances, or pensions of Supreme Court and High Court judges.
Their pay was last revised in 2017 based on the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations and while an 8th Pay Commission is forthcoming, it may influence future salary changes across government sectors.
Currently, the Chief Justice of India earns ₹2.80 lakh per month, while Supreme Court and High Court judges receive ₹2.50 lakh and ₹2.25 lakh, respectively.
