Odisha Govt to Use AI for Drafting Legal Responses

The Odisha government plans to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in drafting legal responses across departments.

The Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) is developing an AI-based judicial petition response drafting system. Currently, legal officers spend significant time reviewing petitions, identifying legal issues, referencing statutes and precedents, and preparing formal replies.

The AI system will help identify petitions, deadlines, and procedural requirements, and generate first-draft responses for lawyer review. Integrated with departmental databases, case management systems, and past records, the tool will automatically fetch relevant factual and legal information.

Custom-trained AI models will be fine-tuned to Indian legal documents and judgments.
