OpenAI faces First lawsuit in India over copyright content

ANI has sued OpenAI, alleging its copyrighted material was used to train ChatGPT, available only to subscribers. Adv. Amit argued that OpenAI operates internationally and is outside Indian jurisdiction. 

The court issued a notice to OpenAI seeking interim directions against ChatGPT. An Amicus Curiae will be appointed. The next hearing is on January 28, 2025. Earlier, The New York Times had also sued OpenAI.
