
The Winter Session of Parliament began with 13 bills listed for introduction over 15 sittings ending 19 December.
Key legislation includes the Atomic Energy Bill, 2025, which allows non-government entities to operate nuclear power plants, and the Higher Education Commission of India Bill, 2025, which establishes a new higher education regulator.
Other bills include amendments to insurance, corporate, and excise laws, the National Highways (Amendment) Bill, and the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill. The Central Excise (Amendment) Bill and the Health and National Security Cess Bill will also be introduced. Opposition MPs plan to raise issues on pollution, security, income, and foreign policy.
The session will also mark discussions on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, and the government aims to fast-track key economic and energy reforms.
