PCMC Dismisses Assistant Commissioner for Violating Two-Child Norm

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) terminated Assistant Municipal Commissioner (AMC) "Sriniwas Dangat" for breaching the Maharashtra Civil Services (Declaration of Small Family) Rules, 2005. These regulations restrict employees to having two children, and Dangat, who has three, did not submit the mandatory affidavit at the time of his promotion in 2013. 

Despite receiving several reminders, he failed to provide the required declaration, prompting an investigation.

Although Dangat asserted that he had notified the PCMC about his third child in 2011, the inquiry verified his rule violation.

Dangat, who is set to retire in February 2025, plans to challenge the dismissal in Bombay HC.
