Punjab & Haryana High Court Condemns Law Officer for Appearing in Case Against Her Husband

The Punjab & Haryana High Court has condemned a law officer for professional misconduct after she appeared as a state-appointed counsel in a sexual harassment case against her own husband.

The court highlighted the glaring conflict of interest and violation of legal ethics, stressing that such actions undermine the integrity of the judicial process.

The advocate was removed from the case and reprimanded for failing to disclose the personal relationship. The court directed the state to appoint a new prosecutor and reaffirmed the duty of lawyers to maintain impartiality.

The Court also asked the trial court to remain vigilant in the matter since the wife is working as an APP there.
