P&H High Court Closes PIL Against Use of 'Chinese Dor' to Fly Kites , ₹25,000 Reward for Informers

The Punjab and Haryana High Court closed a second PIL against the use of banned Chinese Dor (kite string), noting that the Punjab government had already taken strong steps.

These include a complete ban on the dangerous string, imposing fines ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹15 lakhs, and offering a ₹25,000 reward to anyone who reports an injury or death caused by it.

The petitioner had cited a news report where a 6-year-old child died due to Chinese Dor

The Court advised the petitioner to report such incidents to the authorities or approach the jurisdictional magistrate, instead of repeatedly filing PILs. (Kanwar Pahul Singh v. State of Punjab & Ors.)
