A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the Madras High Court alleges unethical practices at two transgender clinics, including forced undressing and the banned two-finger test on patients.
The case highlights violations of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, and guidelines from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
The petitioner stated that without protocols for gender-affirming procedures Section 15(e) of the Transgender Persons Act can't be enforced.
The court has issued notices to the Tamil Nadu government and the National Medical Council, demanding responses within four weeks.
