A PIL has been filed in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court accusing DMK cadres of unlawfully collecting Aadhaar and other personal data under the “Oraniyil Tamil Nadu” campaign.
Petitioner S Rajkumar from Sivaganga district alleged that party workers demanded Aadhaar, voter ID, and bank passbook details, enrolled residents as DMK members using OTPs without consent, and threatened loss of welfare benefits if they refused.
The petition seeks a declaration that such data collection is unconstitutional, destruction of collected data, and action by UIDAI and the Centre. The matter is listed for further hearing.
