PIL in Supreme Court Seeks De-registration of INC and a Probe into ‘Vote-Chori’ Campaign

A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the de-registration of the Indian National Congress (INC) and the constitution of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge’s ‘Vote-Chori’ campaign against the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The petitioner, Satish Aggarwal, urges an interim stay to restrain INC and its leaders from making public statements undermining the ECI’s authority during the case.

The plea alleges that INC’s campaign violates constitutional oaths, maligns ECI and the Chief Election Commissioner, and interferes with ongoing election matters, including Bihar’s special intensive revision case.

A related PIL seeks an SIT probe into voter list manipulation claims in Bengaluru Central constituency.
