The Gujarat High Court recalled its July 11 conviction of Raijibhai Fulabhai Sodhane for murdering his wife after learning he had died in 2016.
The Court criticised the State police and Public Prosecutor’s office for failing to inform it of the death, which caused the appeal filed in 2013 to abate automatically.
The Bench directed the Kheda Superintendent of Police to act against negligent officials and asked the PP’s office to improve coordination in old appeals.
The State’s appeal was closed as abated.
