Police have been stationed at Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (MNLU CS) since August 4 amid student protests triggered by a late-night hostel check, which students say violated their privacy.
The protestors submitted 21 demands, including calls for student representation, flexible academics, and better facilities. The administration cited disciplinary concerns against some students and emphasised safety reasons for the checks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bindu S Ronald said the faculty has the right to conduct hostel inspections and denied restrictions on student communication with the administration.
Police are currently mediating talks between students and the university.
