Priya Kapur, widow of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, has filed a defamation case in the Delhi High Court against her sister-in-law, Mandhira Kapur Smith, and podcast host Pooja Chaudhri.
The suit arises from statements allegedly made on social media and the podcast InControversial, which Priya claims falsely accused her of dishonesty, moral impropriety, and wrongful control of Sunjay Kapur’s assets.
She has sought an injunction restraining further defamatory statements and ₹20 crore in damages for reputational loss, mental agony, and social humiliation.
Priya alleges that Mandhira embarked on a systematic campaign to malign and socially discredit her shortly after Sunjay Kapur’s demise. The case is filed through advocate Smriti Asmita.
