The Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected the bail application of Naresh, the prime accused in the brutal lynching of 16-year-old Junaid Khan in June 2017.
Naresh faces charges including murder, attempted murder, and grievous hurt under Sections 302, 307, 323, 324, and 34 IPC, along with Section 145 of the Railway Act.
Chief Justice Sheel Nagu emphasised the need to protect eyewitnesses before considering bail, noting that two key witnesses remain unexamined.
The trial in Faridabad is ongoing, but the Supreme Court had stayed it in 2018 pending a CBI investigation plea by Junaid’s father.
The court allowed Naresh to seek bail again after the witness examination.
