Punjab and Haryana High Court Seeks Response from Magistrate over Alleged Bail to Relative

The Punjab and Haryana High Court sought a response from Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Vandana, accused of granting bail to her relative in a criminal intimidation case.

The complainant alleged that the magistrate and the accused are cousins, while the State contended they are only distant relatives. The Court directed the Registrar General to submit a report on whether any administrative inquiry had been initiated regarding the alleged misconduct.

Observing the seriousness of the allegation and its implications for judicial propriety, the Court decided to examine the matter further. The case has been listed for hearing on November 26, 2025.
