Punjab and Haryana High Court takes suo motu cognizance of security shortage to judicial officers

The Punjab and Haryana High Court, led by Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Berry, initiated a suo motu case to address the denial of security personnel to judicial officers posted at the High Court registry.

The Court observed that ensuring the safety of these officers is the responsibility of the Administration of the Chandigarh Union Territory.

It directed the UT Administration to submit a response through an affidavit by the Director General of Police within two weeks.

This action followed a resolution by the High Court’s building committee, citing security personnel shortages communicated by the Chandigarh SSP.
