Punjab & Haryana High Court Grants Bail to Doctor Arrested for Sharing AI Video Mocking PM Modi

The Punjab & Haryana High Court granted regular bail to 65-year-old Mushtaq Ahmed, a doctor arrested on May 17 for forwarding an AI-generated video that allegedly mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on X.

Ahmed was charged under Section 152 and Section 197(1)(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for “acts endangering sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.”

The court noted the investigation is nearly complete, no incriminating material remains to be seized, and Ahmed’s age and health warrant bail.

His counsel emphasised he merely forwarded the video and posed no flight risk. (Mushtaq Ahmed v State of Haryana)
