Punjab & Haryana High Court Seeks Report On Cyber Crime Complaint Mechanisms Against Telegram Case

  • Case Name: Karamjit Singh vs. State of Punjab and Ors.

The Punjab & Haryana High Court has ordered the Punjab government to provide a report on handling mechanisms of complaints related to cybercrime and the complaints in which FIR was not registered.

This follows from the plea by a retired Health officer who was scammed through the ‘Secret Express’ telegram group where fraudsters lured him into making large investments by promising high returns.

Despite filing multiple complaints with the cyber police and providing evidence, no FIR has been registered and no investigation has been initiated.

The court instructed the state counsel to meet with the ADGP of Cyber Crime on February 17, 2025, to gather details on complaint handling.

The court has requested details on cyber complaints & pending FIRs.
