Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has approached a Pune court to initiate contempt proceedings against Satyaki Savarkar, the complainant in the ongoing defamation case over alleged derogatory remarks about V D Savarkar.
Gandhi alleged that Savarkar disobeyed the court’s directions by not submitting the original CD and transcript of the speech, instead handing over a corrupted pen drive. He claimed this obstructs the judicial process and affects his right to a fair defence.
Gandhi also argued that the case is politically driven and that the complainant’s actions amount to contempt. The court will hear the plea on August 13.
