Rahul Gandhi Seeks Preventive Protection Over Life Threats Amid Defamation Case

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi informed a special MP/MLA Pune Court of serious threats to his life in connection with criminal defamation proceedings over his remarks on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

He revealed “grave apprehensions,” highlighting that the complainant is a descendant of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, which raised his security concerns.

Filed through Advocate Milind Pawar, Gandhi’s plea urged the Maharashtra government to provide preventive protection, citing direct death threats linked to his opposition to the Election Commission and public insults by BJP leaders.

The Court admitted the application, listing the case for further hearing on September 10, 2025.
