Rajasthan HC Directs Admission of 11-Year-Old Rape Survivor to Govt School, Uphold Girls’ Right to Education

  • Case Name: Victim v State of Rajasthan & Ors

The Rajasthan High Court allowed the admission of an 11-year-old rape survivor, who gave birth and now wishes to study into a nearby government school.

Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand directed the Balika Grah Superintendent to ensure her education, bear the cost of her studies, and submit yearly progress reports until she turns 18.

The Court ordered the Superintendent to not only enroll her but also provide books and all necessary learning materials.

Emphasising Article 21A and the RTE Act, the court held the state legally bound to protect girls’ education, noting societal pressures often push them toward marriage and domestic chores over learning.
