The Rajasthan High Court directed AIIMS Delhi and the Commissioner of the Persons with Disability (PWD) Institute to form an expert committee to suggest methods enabling a petitioner who became fully blind after two years of MBBS to complete her course.
Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand cited the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and global examples of blind doctors, holding MCI guidelines discriminatory.
The Court ordered the committee to report in three months and, if favourable, the State to allow her to continue.
The ruling applies only to her case and not to NEET admissions for candidates with over 40% visual disability.
