Rajasthan High Court Bans Use of 86,000 Unsafe Classrooms in Government Schools

The Rajasthan High Court, in a suo motu case arising from the collapse of a classroom ceiling and wall that killed seven children, restrained the State government from using 86,000 dilapidated school buildings and rooms.

The division bench of Justice Mahendar Kumar Goyal and Justice Ashok Kumar Jain reviewed reports filed by the State and directed that such unsafe structures not be used for studies until further orders.

The Court further ordered the government to arrange suitable alternatives to ensure students’ education is not disrupted.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on September 4, 2025.
