The Rajasthan High Court extended self-styled godman Asaram’s interim bail till May 25, or until the judgment in his pending criminal appeal is delivered, whichever is earlier.
Asaram is serving a life sentence in the 2013 rape case involving a minor girl at his Rajasthan ashram. The Court noted that the appeal hearings had concluded and judgment had already been reserved.
His counsel sought continuation of bail citing his deteriorating medical condition and ongoing treatment. The State opposed the plea but argued that any extension, if granted, should be limited.
The High Court ultimately extended the interim relief for another month.
