Rajasthan High Court Orders Asaram Bapu To Surrender, Rejects Bail Extension

The Rajasthan High Court has directed self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, serving a life sentence in a 2013 rape case, to surrender within three days after refusing his plea for extension of interim bail on medical grounds.

A bench of Justice Dinesh Mehta and Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur reviewed medical reports from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and found his condition stable. Asaram was on interim bail since January; the last extension was valid till August 29.

The Court has now ordered him to return to Jodhpur Central Jail by August 30.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat High Court has extended his temporary bail in another case till September 3.
