The Rajasthan High Court has upheld the constitutional validity of the 25% domicile-based reservation for Rajasthan students at National Law University, Jodhpur.
The Court found the reservation did not violate Article 14, as the classification was reasonable, non-arbitrary, and had a rational nexus with the goal of advancing regional educational development. The bench noted that similar reservations exist at other NLUs and align with national policy.
The Court concluded the State’s action was within its policy domain and was backed by judicial precedent such as Dr. Pradeep Jain v. Union of India.
Accordingly, the Court dismissed the petition challenging the legality of the reservation.
