Actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered before Tihar Jail authorities after the Delhi High Court declined to grant him further relief in multiple cheque-bounce cases.
The Court refused to extend the deadline for surrender, noting repeated non-compliance with undertakings to repay the complainant.
Yadav had sought additional time, stating that ₹50 lakh had been arranged, but the Court held that leniency cannot be extended indefinitely merely due to a person’s status.
The case arises from bounced cheques issued to M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. Yadav’s conviction, upheld by a sessions court in 2019, had earlier been temporarily suspended to explore settlement.
