Delhi High Court Seeks Police Response on Illegal Bars, Misuse of Liquor Licences

The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Delhi Police on actions taken against bars and pubs allegedly operating without valid licences, serving alcohol beyond permissible hours, and allowing underage drinking.

A bench of Justices DK Sharma and Tushar Rao Gedela was hearing a PIL filed by Mahtab Khan, who flagged widespread non-compliance across the city.

The petition also alleged misuse of L-16 liquor licences, which are meant exclusively for 5-star hotels.

The petitioner seeks a crackdown on such venues and the formation of a joint monitoring team. The next hearing is on August 22.
