RCB Marketing Head Moves Karnataka High Court Against Arrest in Stadium Stampede Case

Nikhil Sosale, Head of Marketing and Revenue at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has approached the Karnataka High Court claiming his arrest in the June 3 stadium stampede case was illegal and politically motivated.

The stampede occurred outside Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s IPL victory celebration, killing 11 and injuring 56. Sosale was arrested on June 6, allegedly on the Chief Minister's oral orders, without a proper police inquiry. He argues this violated his fundamental rights and seeks his release.

The High Court has also taken suo motu action and asked the State to file a status report by June 10.
