Reporter TV Anchor, Sub-Editor Move Kerala High Court for Anticipatory Bail in POCSO Case

Arun Kumar K, consulting editor, and Shabas Ahmed S, sub-editor at Reporter TV, have filed for anticipatory bail in the Kerala High Court after being booked under the POCSO Act.

The case arises from a skit aired on January 6, featuring a minor girl in an Oppana dance, with Kumar making inappropriate comments in a later TV segment.

They face charges under Sections 11(i) and 12 of the POCSO Act for sexual harassment and Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) for common intention. The duo claims the skit was scripted, consensual, and culturally focused, asserting the case is politically motivated.

The High Court has yet to hear the plea.
