A Delhi Trial Court has discharged all 23 accused in the alleged excise policy case, including K Kavitha, former CM Arvind Kejriwal, and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
The Court held that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case and pointed to serious lapses in the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation. It found material contradictions and lacunae in the chargesheet, with key allegations unsupported by witness statements or documents.
The Court said Kejriwal was implicated without cogent material, contrary to settled criminal law principles. As for Sisodia, it found no substantive evidence linking him to any criminal conspiracy in the 2021–22 excise policy.
A departmental inquiry was ordered against the Investigating Officer, and all accused were discharged.
