Supreme Court Urges Virtual Hearings Amid Severe Air Pollution in Delhi

The Supreme Court termed Delhi’s air pollution “very serious” and advised lawyers to appear via video conferencing instead of attending in person.

Justice P.S. Narasimha cautioned that the hazardous air could cause “permanent damage,” noting that even masks offer little protection.

The Court observed that Delhi’s Air Quality Index had reached 425, leading the Commission for Air Quality Management to invoke Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region.
