The Supreme Court Bar Association has strongly condemned the alleged act of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar forcibly pulling down the hijab of a woman doctor during a public function in Patna on December 15, 2025
In a resolution dated December 20, 2025, the SCBA said the incident amounted to a serious violation of a woman’s dignity, autonomy, and constitutional rights, including religious freedom.
It observed that such conduct by a constitutional authority undermines equality and non-discrimination.
The SCBA also condemned derogatory remarks made by Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad, and demanded an unconditional apology from all those responsible.
