The Supreme Court has directed Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to disburse overdue internship stipends to 11 foreign medical graduates (FMGs) within two weeks.
These FMGs, interning at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, were denied the ₹26,300 monthly stipend given to Indian interns.
The Court emphasised that all interns must be treated equally under the National Medical Commission’s CRMI Regulations.
The court also restrained the UGC from taking action against AMU for using its funds to pay the stipends. (Zabihullah v AMU)
