The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to implement a cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims during the “golden hour” by March 14, 2025, under Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Emphasizing the right to life under Article 21, the bench observed that timely medical care could save countless lives.
The scheme will ensure immediate aid without payment delays.
Additionally, the Court reviewed the hit-and-run compensation scheme and mandated steps to enhance claim processing, including creating a digital portal.
The matter is scheduled for further hearing on March 24, 2025.
