Supreme Court Upholds Quashing of 2016 SC/ST Act Case Against Telangana CM Revanth Reddy

The Supreme Court of India has upheld the Telangana High Court decision quashing a 2016 case under the SC/ST Act against Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

A Bench of Justices Surya Kant, Joymalya Bagchi, and Vipul Pancholi found no prima facie material to proceed.

The allegations claimed Reddy instigated vandalism of an SC housing society using caste-based slurs. However, the Court noted there was no direct evidence linking him, only hearsay amid prior political enmity.

It held that the High Court rightly examined probe materials under Article 226 and found no basis for further investigation, including under Section 6 of the SC/ST Act.
