The Supreme Court brought an end to a decade-long matrimonial dispute involving over 60 litigations by invoking its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to do “complete justice.”
The Court granted divorce to the estranged couple and quashed 61 pending civil and criminal cases arising out of their marital conflict.
It noted that prolonged litigation had only aggravated the dispute, leaving no scope for reconciliation.
Recognising the irretrievable breakdown of marriage, the Court facilitated a comprehensive settlement between the parties, ensuring finality and preventing further legal proceedings in multiple forums.
